Unleash Your Creativity
During a
demo last week, I told a student to push the envelope when they start to work
on their own painting.
The definition
for envelope is the flight envelope that covers all the limits for which it’s
safe to fly a plane. Test pilots push that envelope to determine how fast and
how high new jets can fly.
Simply put,
an envelope is something that envelops us.
What envelops
us as artists? Is it the fear of failure that a painting might not turn out the
way you want it to or the way others expect? Fear is a joy and creativity killer. Break through your fear and unleash your
creative abilities.
When you
sit down to paint, you may not be responsible for your first thought, but you
are responsible for your second one. Try saying, “I can do this and it’s going
to be beautiful.” Experiment. Paint
outside your own lines. Unleash your
creativity and you’ll discover there’s more to what you can do than you ever
imagined. – Jill Saur
