Painting Class Roswell, GA

Vincent Van Gogh Quote
Information overload is rampant today.  It's easy to lose the focus of a painting by adding too many details.  I learned early on from the most influential painter in my life, Bud Biggs, that when you drop a jewel in a painting, let it shine!  If you add too many jewels, they'll lose their impact!

Please enjoy these new paintings by my wonderful students!  All I can say is, "WOW!"
I'm very impressed with the level of accomplishment I'm seeing from all my students.  When you give all of yourself to what you do, the results radiate and give back to others.  It's obvious my students are pouring themselves into their art, and that makes me smile!

The Capacity For Astonishment

atlanta artist, Jill Saur

Martin Glaser, a legendary New York graphic designer, famous for creating the ‘I Love New York’ logo, recently spoke about something that’s dear to my heart.  He said, “If you can sustain your interest in what you’re doing, you’re an extremely fortunate person.  What you see very frequently in people’s professional lives, and perhaps in their emotional life as well, is that they lose interest in the third act.  You sort of get tired, and indifferent, and sometimes, defensive and you kind of lose your capacity for astonishment, and that’s a great loss, because the world is a very astonishing place.”

Most of my students lead very busy lives, are professional businessmen and women, own businesses and some are taking care of large families.  I also stay very busy with my classes, painting, business, and keeping up with my  home.  I think in this day and time it takes effort to re-charge and refresh the creative side.

I guess you’d say I’m in the third act of my life.  I still find wonder in observing nature, seeing the cloud formations before a storm, and getting up early to watch the sun rise over the misty waters of the Chattahoochee River.
The overflow of being astonished with life is expressed through my art, my family and friendships, and the general way that I conduct my business.
I agree with Martin Glaser, the world is a very astonishing place and I hope your able to take the time to be utterly astonished! - Jill Saur

Drawing And Painting Class In Roswell, GA

"Often the most unique, compelling work comes not from a concept or an idea but from a deep, wordless place inside the artist." - Juliette Aristides

I love that quote by Juliette Aristides.  As an artist, I can relate to those words.  I suppose that's why I feel like I'm expressing my innermost self when I'm painting and why painting is so therapeutic and so very personal.

Please enjoy these beautiful works by my awesome, creative, and fabulous students.  I love watching the growth and excitement displayed in each and every one of my classes.
